Outreach Ministries
City Road Chapel participates in several programs of outreach to share God's love with others in the community. City Road also supports several missions financially or with occasional volunteer personnel.
Room In the Inn
The Room In The Inn ministry operates out of the Campus for Human Development. City-wide, Room In The Inn provides food and shelter for 185 to 225 homeless people each night in 145 area congregations from November 1 through March 31.
City Road is a long-time supporter of this program, hosting up to 12 guests during the coldest times of year. Participation manifests itself in many forms: cooking meals, serving meals, contributing clothes, interacting with the men after dinner, playing cards, bringing movies, washing sheets and towels, sharing the Word with a fellow believer, preparing beds for sleeping, contributing food, or arranging the kitchen and closet for the most efficient use, to name a few.
Sunday’s Table
The first Sunday of every month, City Road volunteers prepare, deliver and serve meals to homeless families at the Community Care Fellowship (CCF) at Nancy Webb Kelly UMC. We provide meals for between 75 and 120 people, on average. Joy Luthy coordinates this program. Sign-up sheet is at the Welcome Center Table.
Caring Partners
All members at City Road are important. Caring Partners is on outreach program for our shut-in/disabled members. So our elderly members don’t feel forgotten, volunteers visit members in their homes once a month.
Meals On Wheels
This service provides meals for senior citizens or others that are unable to always provide them for themselves. City Road Chapel provides 2 person teams to go to a local apartment complex, pick-up prepared meals, and deliver them to people in the complex. The operation takes a little over one hour and fills a great need. We serve the first full week of every month.
Christian Cooperative Ministry
City Road supports this Christian relief center which provides food, clothing, and money to support to those in need in the Madison community. Our members bring canned foods and boxed foods (such as macaroni and cheese, cereal) at any time and leave them in the basket near the elevator. Other needs will be reported here or in the newsletter when they arise. Please note that we are currently giving money collected during our communion services to this charity. We do not give any financial help directly from our church anymore.
